Job summary

Sperry Rail, Inc. Kalispell, MT is seeking a field-based CDL Driver (BNSF) responsible for operating hi-rail trucks and rail detector cars across the Eastern or Western US. The role involves lengthy travel, field testing support, and strict DOT/regulatory compliance.

Candidates must hold a valid CDL Class A or B with air brake endorsement, pass DOT physical and background checks, and demonstrate strong communication and physical endurance for demanding conditions.

Qualifications

• CDL Class A or B with air brake endorsement is required.
• Pass DOT physical, drug screening, and background check where permitted by law.
• Strong communication skills (verbal and written).
• Meet the physical demands of the role.

Responsibilities

• Travel extensively (3–4 months at a time) within assigned regions.
• Operate hi-rail trucks and rail‑bound detector cars on roadways and railroad tracks.
• Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections; maintain DOT logs and compliance.
• Assist with rail flaw detection testing and data collection.
• Maintain and repair detector carriage and equipment; keep vehicle clean and organized.
• Follow all safety policies and DOT/FRA regulations; wear PPE.
• Communicate with crew via radio and report safety concerns promptly.
