Job summary

Bay Area Community Services seeks a Peer Counselor for Alameda County to deliver field-based peer support, crisis guidance, and linkage to services. The role emphasizes recovery-oriented coaching and performance within program standards, including extensive local travel and flexible scheduling.

Candidates should have lived experience with homelessness or mental health/SUD systems and hold or enroll in CalMHSA Medi-Cal Peer Support Specialist certification, with a high school diploma as a minimum

Qualifications

• Peer certification preferred or enrollment proof.
• Peer support experience required.
• Experience with homelessness, mental health or SUD systems with support.

Responsibilities

• Provide field-based peer support and counseling to participants and families.
• Maintain a defined caseload and schedule outreach and appointments.
• Document services in progress notes and billable records.
• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team and referral partners.
