Job summary

Bay Area Community Services is seeking Full-time Residential Counselors in Oakland to support participants in residential services toward self-sufficiency and community integration. The role includes on-site counseling, crisis de-escalation, and milieu-based care to promote wellness and recovery.

The position requires a High School Diploma and 4 years of mental health/social services experience (1 year of customer service may count).

Qualifications

• High School Diploma required and 4 years of paid work experience in mental health/social services (1 year of customer services may be substituted).
• Degree is preferred. Associate Degree is preferred.
• Must have valid California driver’s license, personal vehicle, and proof of insurance; DMV printout required.

Responsibilities

• Supportive counseling in a milieu environment and aid in participant’s wellness and recovery goals.
• Engages with participants to implement active service plans, goals, and discharge plans; supports independent living skills.
• Provide milieu treatment, crisis intervention, and crisis assessment as necessary.
• Perform medication management in accordance with regulatory standards; may support self-medication prompting or administer medications at a licensed facility.
• Maintain accurate participant files, charts and progress notes; enter data into electronic health records.
• Foster relations with community treatment providers to coordinate client care.
• Ensure a safe program environment; assist with meal preparation, housekeeping and property management.
• Apply evidence-based practices including harm reduction and wraparound support; participate in supervision and training.
