Job summary

Bay Area Community Services is seeking a Peer Counselor to provide field-based peer support and counseling in Fairfield, Solano County. You will engage participants and families, develop wellness plans, and coordinate with a team to deliver recovery services.

The role emphasizes lived experience, crisis support, and strong documentation. Travel within the local area is required, with traditional business hours and opportunities for growth within the agency.

Qualifications

• Peer certification preferred, or proof of enrollment. CalMHSA Medi-Cal Peer Support Specialist or equivalent.
• Peer support experience required.
• Lived experiences include homelessness ideally criminal justice involvement, and/or family member involvement in these systems with their support.
• High school diploma required.
• Use of a computer or electronic platform to document work is required.
• Bilingual in threshold language preferred.
• Experience navigating the social services system personally highly preferred.
• Experience working in various community settings and navigating unique characteristics of communities.

Responsibilities

• Provides field-based peer support and counseling to participants and families in the community.
• Maintains a defined caseload and schedules outreach and appointments.
• Documents services in progress notes and billable records per guidelines.
• Provides crisis support and makes referrals to long-term supports as needed.
• Collaborates with interdisciplinary team to coordinate services.
