Job summary

State of Oklahoma invites applications for a Literacy Coach with the Department of Education. This instructional leader position supports reading development through explicit, systematic literacy instruction and targeted interventions aligned with state standards.

The role is 90% field-based with travel to coaching schools and statewide professional development; requires knowledge of the Strong Reader’s Act, IEPs/504s, and collaboration with educators, families, and communities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood, Elementary Education, Literacy, or related field (transcripts required).
• Five years of successful literacy instruction experience (elementary/early childhood) OR Master’s degree with three years.
• Oklahoma teaching certificate.
• Completion of 30+ hours of literacy training (LET RS, AIM Pathways, IMSE).
• Pass the Oklahoma Foundations of Reading test within 6 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Knowledge & Expertise in literacy instruction and intervention.
• Ensure compliance with Strong Readers Act and state standards.
• Collaborate with schools, districts, and families to support literacy.
• Address reading difficulties with evidence-based interventions.
• Stay informed on state and national literacy policies.
