Job summary

State of Oklahoma is seeking a Literacy Coach to lead reading development through science-based, multisensory instruction. You will travel to coaching schools 90% of the time and collaborate with educators and families to design equitable literacy programs aligned with state standards.

The role emphasizes compliance with Strong Reader’s Act, IEPs/504s, and ongoing professional development for staff, with statewide travel and occasional meetings at the Department of Education.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field (official transcripts required).
• Five (5) years of successful literacy instruction experience OR Master’s degree with three (3) years of experience.
• Valid Oklahoma teaching certificate.
• Completion of 30+ hours of literacy training (LETRS, AIM Pathways, IMSE).
• Pass the Oklahoma Foundations of Reading test within 6 months of hire date.

Responsibilities

• Knowledge of science of reading and multisensory, explicit instruction; implement evidence-based reading strategies.
• Collaborate with special education teams to align practices with IEPs and 504 plans.
• Foster partnerships with schools, districts, parents, and communities to support literacy initiatives.
• Address reading difficulties with evidence-based interventions and accommodations.
• Stay informed on state and national literacy policies and standards.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood, Elementary Education, Literacy, or a related field

Master's degree in education

Completion of 30+ hours of literacy training

Pass the Oklahoma Foundations of Reading test
