Job summary

Prince William County is seeking a Maintenance and Operations Specialist to plan, coordinate, and oversee maintenance and small renovation projects across county facilities. You will be the on-site presence, coordinating with contractors and staff to keep projects moving from request through closeout.

The role requires coordinating scopes of work, scheduling in occupied buildings, and ensuring work aligns with county standards while communicating status to stakeholders.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED with 2 years of hands-on maintenance experience.
• Experience coordinating or overseeing maintenance and repair work.
• Experience working with tenants, landlords, property managers, and building owners to resolve issues.

Responsibilities

• Define scopes of work for maintenance and small renovation requests and build realistic schedules for work in occupied buildings.
• Oversee contractors and trades staff on site, verify installed work against County standards, and resolve field conditions.
• Apply knowledge of commercial building systems to evaluate conditions and recommend repair or replacement.
• Work with landlords and property managers to resolve maintenance responsibilities under leases.
• Maintain accurate project records and communicate status updates to leadership.
