Job summary

Stantec’s Environmental Services Cultural Resources Team in Southern California is seeking team members to grow our program. Responsibilities include field surveys, monitoring, and documentation for CEQA and NRHP/CRHR projects, with mentorship and flexible scheduling to maintain work-life balance.

You will work on desktop reviews, shovel test pits, and field mapping while using GIS tools and GPS tech. The role emphasizes collaboration, safety, and professional growth.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Anthropology or Archaeology from an accredited university
• 1-year minimum relevant field experience (field school, internship, lab work)
• Archaeology experience in California preferred

Responsibilities

• Assist Field Directors and Project Managers with pre-field planning, surveys, STPs and monitoring of construction activities
• Identify and record precontact and historic resources following state/federal standards
• Prepare field documentation: site records, sketches, logs, and soil descriptions
• Operate GPS/GNSS devices and GIS tools for mapping and data collection
• Conduct desktop research, DPR 523 forms, and archival reviews as needed
• Support impact assessments and contribute to NRHP/CRHR evaluations
• Deliver timely logs, monitoring reports, and safety documentation
• Follow safety protocols and work well in team or solo field settings
