Job summary

Jacobs is seeking an on-call archaeologist to conduct surveys, testing, monitoring, and resource documentation across Texas and nearby regions. Travel will be frequent, with 8–10 hour days in varied field conditions and collaboration with project managers and environmental teams.

The ideal candidate holds a bachelor’s degree in anthropology or archaeology, at least two years of field experience in Texas, and proficiency with GIS, GPS, and MS Office.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in anthropology, archaeology, or closely related field.
• Minimum 2 years of professional archaeological field experience in Texas.
• Proficiency with GPS, field documentation, and MS Office.
• Ability to work 8–10 hour days in remote field conditions.

Responsibilities

• Conduct archaeological survey and subsurface testing.
• Monitor archaeological sites during ground-disturbing activities.
• Document and recover cultural resources; maintain field notes.
• Coordinate with project managers and environmental teams.
• Ensure compliance with NHPA, ARPA, NEPA, NAGPRA, and state rules.
