Job summary

Construction Material Testing seeks a trained 3D scanning technician to operate handheld scanners (Artec Leo/Eva/Space Spider) on concrete, piping, and metal components. You will process data in Artec Studio and deliver meshes, reports, and scan-to-CAD data to clients.

You must have hands-on scanning experience, CAD-reading ability, and a valid driver’s license. Travel to regional hubs and sites is required, with pay between $26 and $40 per hour, depending on skill and certifications.

Qualifications

Experience operating a handheld structured-light or laser scanner on real projects.
Knowledge of Artec Studio and scan-processing workflows.
Familiarity with CAD drawings and reading structural/fabrication drawings.
Comfortable on active construction sites and outdoors; able to lift/carry equipment.
Valid driver's license with acceptable record; travel as assigned.
Willing to travel to regional hubs and perform field work.

Responsibilities

Plan and execute handheld 3D scans of rebar embeds and structures.
Control drift on large objects using reference features and overlapping zones.
Verify capture completeness on site before leaving.
Process scans in Artec Studio: registration, fusion, and mesh cleanup; export formats.
Produce deviation maps and measurement reports against drawings or CAD.
Build scan-to-CAD solids (STEP/IGES) for reverse engineering.
Document capture procedures and chain of custody for forensic matters.
Coordinate access, permits, and safety with site contacts.
