Job summary

Construction Material Testing seeks a trained 3D scanning technician to operate handheld scanners like Artec Leo and to process data for scan-to-CAD outputs. You will capture scans on active construction sites, verify data on-site, and produce detailed reports and meshes for clients.

You should bring hands-on scanning experience, CAD-reading ability, and a willingness to travel. The role is hourly with potential overtime and sponsorship for relevant certifications.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience operating handheld scanners on real projects.
• Familiar with Artec Studio or comparable scan-processing software.
• Ability to read CAD drawings and structural/fabrication drawings.
• Willingness to travel and work on active construction sites.
• Valid driver's license with clean record.
• Metrology reporting experience a plus.

Responsibilities

• Plan and execute handheld 3D scans of rebar mats and embeds before pours and on damaged structures.
• Control drift on large objects using reference features and overlapping zones.
• Verify capture completeness on site before leaving.
• Process scans in Artec Studio and export to STL, OBJ, E57, and CAD formats.
• Produce deviation color maps, measurement reports, and anchor bolt reports against drawings or CAD.
• Build scan-to-CAD solids (STEP/IGES) for reverse engineering and fit-up checks.
• Document capture procedures, equipment settings, and chain of custody on forensic matters.
• Coordinate access, permits, and safety with site personnel and plant contacts.
• Travel to regional hubs as assigned.
