Job summary

Hardy Industries is seeking skilled Fiber Testing and Splicing Technicians to support our national client base. This role emphasizes hands-on testing, OTDR, splicing, and diagnosing network impairments in diverse environments, from retail to data centers.

As a 1099 contractor, you’ll be paid hourly on site, with travel pay within an approximately 80-mile radius. You’ll work independently, document results, and contribute to project deliverables while expanding your fiber and telecom skill set.

Qualifications

• Fiber optic testing and troubleshooting experience required.
• Experience with OTDRs, power meters, light sources, and certification equipment.
• Knowledge of single-mode and multi-mode fiber systems.
• Reading diagrams, splice schematics, blueprints, and technical docs.
• FOA/CFOT/BICSI/Network+ certifications or 5+ years field experience.

Responsibilities

• Perform fiber optic splicing using fusion and mechanical methods.
• Conduct OTDR, power meter, and light source tests; certify fibers.
• Identify faults, inspect/clean connectors, and replace jumpers.
• Install, terminate, and test single- and multi-mode cabling.
• Document test results, splicing records, and project deliverables.
• Work independently across diverse environments and be available for travel.
