Job summary

Legrand in New London, CT is seeking a Fiber Test Engineering Support Technician to perform comprehensive testing and evaluation of fiber optic components to ensure quality and compliance. You will document, analyze, and communicate results to engineering teams, supporting product development and process improvements.

You will design test fixtures, troubleshoot setups, maintain lab equipment, and contribute to ECN processes. Occasional travel (<10%) may be required, and a 1-3 year related experience is typical.

Qualifications

• Typically requires an associate degree or equivalent experience.
• 1-3 years of related experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Carries out test plans following standard testing procedures for existing and new product designs for both internal and external customers.
• Creates, maintains, and presents test reports with summaries and analysis; communicates results to design staff; recommends design improvements.
• Designs test fixtures and test setups as needed.
• Troubleshoots testing methods/setups; recommends improvements to test methods and procedures.
• Maintains lab equipment and equipment certifications.
• Initiates and facilitates the ECN (engineering change notice) process.
• Performs first article requirements checking and first production evaluations.
• Uses agency publications and requirements (UL, TIA, CSA, IEC, etc.).
• Performs other similar and related lab or testing duties; travel typically <10%.
