Job summary

Forged Fiber 37 is hiring a Fiber Tech II - Splicing Technician in Maplewood, MN. You will install, splice, test, and troubleshoot fiber optic cables across construction, maintenance, and restoration projects.

Required: 2+ years of fiber splicing, proficiency with fusion splicer, OTDR, and optical power meters; ability to read diagrams and work outdoors in all weather; strong documentation and communication skills.

Qualifications

• Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
• 2+ years of fiber splicing/telecom outside-plant experience or equivalent training.
• Proficiency with fusion splicer, OTDR, optical power meter and fiber identifiers.
• Ability to read construction prints, splice diagrams, and maps.
• Strong written and verbal communication; team collaboration.
• Basic computer skills and field documentation capabilities.
• Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions and varied terrain.
• Safety-focused with adherence to OSHA/NESC and company policies.

Responsibilities

• Install, splice, test fiber optic cable for construction projects and restoration.
• Troubleshoot faults using OTDR, power meter, scope; document results.
• Prepare, install, audit, and repair splice cases/enclosures across multiple cables.
• Perform testing including dark fiber, reel, and continuity tests; restore service.
• Place and test jumpers in cabinets; audit fiber panels/cases.
• Read construction prints and diagrams to complete work accurately.
• Coordinate with crews, partners, and engineers to resolve outages and meet schedules.
• Use electronic devices for work orders, diagnostics, and communication.
• Follow quality control, safety requirements, and company procedures.
• Learn or perform Optical Line Terminal (OLT) work as needed.
