Job summary

Forged Fiber in Maplewood, MN is seeking a Fiber Tech II - Splicing Technicians to install, splice, test and troubleshoot fiber optic cable across construction, maintenance, and restoration projects. You will read construction prints, perform splices (single/multi/fiber ribbon), and document field activities.

Ideal candidates have 2+ years in fiber splicing, proficiency with fusion splicers, OTDRs, and power meters, and can work outdoors in all weather.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid driver's license with clean record; ability to drive company vehicles.
• 2+ years fiber splicing/telecom outside-plant experience.
• Proficiency with fusion splicer, OTDR, power meter, fiber identifiers, and inspection scope.
• Ability to read construction prints, splice diagrams and permits; strong attention to detail.
• Strong written and verbal communication; able to collaborate with teams and contractors.

Responsibilities

• Install, splice, test fiber optic cable for construction projects and restoration.
• Troubleshoot faults using OTDR, power meter, and related tools; document results.
• Prepare and repair splice enclosures in aerial, buried, and handhole environments.
• Perform testing and maintenance to restore service and maintain route integrity.
• Read diagrams and permits; coordinate with crews and engineers to meet schedules.
• Use company devices for work orders and field reporting; follow safety policies.
• Work overtime, nights, weekends as required and learn OLT-related tasks.
