Job summary

Bigham Cable Construction is hiring a Fiber Splicer to fuse optical fibers and maintain our telecommunications networks. You will ensure strong, reliable connections and troubleshoot post-installation circuits, working at heights and in various environments.

The role requires safety awareness, a valid driver’s license, and the ability to pass a DOT medical exam. The position offers weekly pay, PTO, 401(k) with company match, insurance options, and education reimbursement.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED or relevant work experience.
• 6 months of splicing experience or 1 year of experience in the telecommunications industry.
• Authorization to work in the United States for this company.
• Valid State driver’s license with clean driving record and not provisional.
• Must be able to pass a DOT physical exam and obtain a valid medical card.
• Certified pole climber or ability to demonstrate proficiency is preferred.

Responsibilities

• With guidance, perform cable upgrades and splicing tasks, both aerial and underground.
• Test, activate, and troubleshoot the network’s circuit post-installation.
• Ensure all splicing operations meet customer and industry standards.
• Safely navigate working at different heights, from underground to in the air.
• Complete basic daily maintenance of vehicles, including fluid checks.
• Document work performed through daily production reports, including marking up maps and keeping material usage records.
• Other duties as assigned.
