Job summary

MasTec Communications Group is seeking a skilled Fiber Splicer to build end-to-end fiber optic networks in outdoor utility sites. You will operate fusion splicers and OTDRs, test continuity, and troubleshoot network issues while ensuring safety and quality.

With 3–5 years of fiber splicing experience, you will prep splices, read documentation, and work with teammates on long-term projects. Competitive hourly pay and comprehensive benefits accompany this role.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Utilize fusion splicer and OTDR and related test gear.
• Understand fiber design, light levels, and dB loss.
• Work in outdoor utility construction sites.

Responsibilities

As a Fiber Splicer, you are responsible for producing end-to-end fiber optic networks. You believe in doing the job right. Being the best. And you’re up for the challenge.

In addition, you will:

• Test and troubleshoot the continuity of fiber optic networks
• Operate all testing equipment and be adept at the resolution of challenges common to fiber optic networks
• Experience prepping fiber splice enclosures such as Tyco, CommScope, Corning, etc.
• Utilize fusion splicer, test equipment OTDR (Optical Time-Domain Reflectometer) 1310, 1550, DWDM, CWDM, 945 OLTS, Max Tester, Power meter
• Fiber engineer knowledge of fiber design, reading documentation, understanding of light levels, and dB loss
• Work in outdoor utility construction sites

Compensation

Compensation of $22-$27 per hour, depending on the experience.
