Job summary

MasTec Communications Group is seeking a Fiber Splicer to build and maintain high-quality fiber optic networks in outdoor utility sites. You will test, splice, and troubleshoot networks, using OTDR, fusion splicers, and power meters while adhering to safety standards.

Ideal candidates have 3–5 years of fiber splicing experience, can work with various splicing enclosures, and are comfortable with ladder/bucket trucks and overtime as needed.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of fiber splicing and troubleshooting experience.
• Comfort with heights and climbing ladders or bucket trucks.
• Flexible shifts with overtime availability.

Responsibilities

• Test and troubleshoot fiber optic networks end-to-end.

• Read and interpret fiber design documentation and light/dB loss levels.

Responsibilities

As a Fiber Splicer, you are responsible for producing end-to-end fiber optic networks. You believe in doing the job right. Being the best. And you’re up for the challenge.

In Addition, You Will

• Test and troubleshoot the continuity of fiber optic networks
• Operate all testing equipment and be adept at the resolution of challenges common to fiber optic networks
• Experience prepping fiber splice enclosures such as Tyco, CommScope, Corning, etc.
• Utilize fusion splicer, test equipment OTDR (Optical Time-Domain Reflectometer) 1310, 1550, DWDM, CWDM, 945 OLTS, Max Tester, Power meter
• Fiber engineer knowledge of fiber design, reading documentation, understanding of light levels, and dB loss
• Work in outdoor utility construction sites

• You are comfortable working on a ladder or a bucket truck
• You are flexible and enjoy a variety of shifts with overtime

Compensation of $30-$32 per hour, depending on the experience.
