Job summary

MasTec Communications Group is seeking a skilled Fiber Splicer to join our field team. You will build end-to-end fiber optic networks, test and troubleshoot, and work at outdoor utility sites. You’ll operate testing tools and apply fiber design knowledge to ensure low loss and high-quality connections.

You bring 3–5 years of splice experience, are comfortable with ladders or bucket trucks, and can handle overtime shifts while delivering high-quality work.

• 3–5 years fiber splicing and troubleshooting experience.
• Comfortable working on a ladder or bucket truck.

Responsibilities

• Test and troubleshoot the continuity of fiber optic networks.
• Operate testing equipment and resolve common fiber network issues.
• Prepare fiber splice enclosures (Tyco, CommScope, Corning, etc.).
• Use fusion splicer, OTDR, DWDM/CWDM, OLTS, Max Tester, and Power meter.
• Apply fiber design knowledge, read documentation, assess light levels and dB loss.
• Work at outdoor utility construction sites.

Responsibilities

As a Fiber Splicer, you are responsible for producing end-to-end fiber optic networks. You believe in doing the job right. Being the best. And you're up for the challenge.

In addition, you will:

• Test and troubleshoot the continuity of fiber optic networks
• Operate all testing equipment and be adept at the resolution of challenges common to fiber optic networks
• Experience prepping fiber splice enclosures such as Tyco, CommScope, Corning, etc.
• Utilize fusion splicer, test equipment OTDR (Optical Time-Domain Reflectometer) 1310, 1550, DWDM, CWDM, 945 OLTS, Max Tester, Power meter
• Fiber engineer knowledge of fiber design, reading documentation, understanding of light levels, and dB loss
• Work in outdoor utility construction sites
