Job summary

MasTec Communications Group is seeking a skilled Fiber Splicer to join our field teams and build end-to-end fiber optic networks in outdoor utility environments. You will troubleshoot issues, ensure high quality work, and uphold safety standards.

You will prep splice enclosures, operate fusion splicers and OTDRs, read fiber design docs, and work on ladders or bucket trucks. Competitive pay plus benefits and growth opportunities are offered.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of fiber splicing and troubleshooting experience.
• Ability to work on a ladder or bucket truck.

Responsibilities

• Test and troubleshoot the continuity of fiber optic networks.
• Operate testing equipment and resolve challenges common to fiber optic networks.
• Experience prepping fiber splice enclosures such as Tyco, CommScope, Corning, etc.
• Utilize fusion splicer, test equipment OTDR (Optical Time-Domain Reflectometer) 1310, 1550, DWDM, CWDM, 945 OLTS, Max Tester, Power meter.
• Fiber engineering knowledge of fiber design, reading documentation, understanding of light levels, and dB loss.
• Work in outdoor utility construction sites.

Responsibilities

As a Fiber Splicer, you are responsible for producing end-to-end fiber optic networks. You believe in doing the job right. Being the best. And you're up for the challenge.

In Addition, You Will

• Test and troubleshoot the continuity of fiber optic networks
• Operate all testing equipment and be adept at the resolution of challenges common to fiber optic networks
• Experience prepping fiber splice enclosures such as Tyco, CommScope, Corning, etc.
• Utilize fusion splicer, test equipment OTDR (Optical Time-Domain Reflectometer) 1310, 1550, DWDM, CWDM, 945 OLTS, Max Tester, Power meter
• Fiber engineer knowledge of fiber design, reading documentation, understanding of light levels, and dB loss
• Work in outdoor utility construction sites
