Job summary

MasTec Communications Group is seeking a Fiber Splicer to build end-to-end fiber optic networks and contribute to safe, quality work in outdoor environments.

You will test, troubleshoot, and deploy fiber with fusion splicing, OTDR, and power meters while prepping enclosures and collaborating with a field team on long-term projects. Competitive hourly pay and benefits are offered.

Responsibilities

As a Fiber Splicer, you are responsible for producing end-to-end fiber optic networks. You believe in doing the job right. Being the best. And you’re up for the challenge.

In Addition, You Will

• Test and troubleshoot the continuity of fiber optic networks
• Operate all testing equipment and be adept at the resolution of challenges common to fiber optic networks
• Experience prepping fiber splice enclosures such as Tyco, CommScope, Corning, etc.
• Utilize fusion splicer, test equipment OTDR (Optical Time-Domain Reflectometer) 1310, 1550, DWDM, CWDM, 945 OLTS, Max Tester, Power meter
• Fiber engineer knowledge of fiber design, reading documentation, understanding of light levels, and dB loss
• Work in outdoor utility construction sites

Qualifications

• You enjoy getting your hands dirty with your team
• You have at least 3-5 years of fiber splicing and troubleshooting experience
• You are comfortable working on a ladder or a bucket truck
• You are flexible and enjoy a variety of shifts with overtime
