Job summary

MasTec Communications Group is seeking a Fiber Splicer to build end-to-end fiber optic networks, working in a safety-minded environment and delivering high-quality service to customers and communities.

You will test and troubleshoot optical networks, operate fusion splicers and OTDRs, and work on outdoor utility sites, with overtime and varied shifts. Join our team and grow your skills on challenging projects.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of fiber splicing and troubleshooting experience.

• Willing to work on outdoor utility construction sites and varied shifts.

Responsibilities

• Test and troubleshoot the continuity of fiber optic networks.
• Operate testing equipment such as fusion splicer and OTDR.
• Experience prepping fiber splice enclosures (Tyco, CommScope, Corning).
• Interpret light levels and dB loss, read documentation.
• Work outdoors on utility construction sites with possible overtime.

Responsibilities

As a Fiber Splicer, you are responsible for producing end-to-end fiber optic networks. You believe in doing the job right. Being the best. And you’re up for the challenge.

In addition, you will:

• Test and troubleshoot the continuity of fiber optic networks
• Operate all testing equipment and be adept at the resolution of challenges common to fiber optic networks
• Experience prepping fiber splice enclosures such as Tyco, CommScope, Corning, etc.
• Utilize fusion splicer, test equipment OTDR (Optical Time-Domain Reflectometer) 1310, 1550, DWDM, CWDM, 945 OLTS, Max Tester, Power meter
• Fiber engineer knowledge of fiber design, reading documentation, understanding of light levels, and dB loss
• Work in outdoor utility construction sites

Qualifications

• You have a knack for figuring out hard problems and enjoy a hands-on approach to your work
• You are looking for long-term projects
• You enjoy getting your hands dirty with your team
• You have at least 3-5 years of fiber splicing and troubleshooting experience
• You are comfortable working on a ladder or a bucket truck
• You are flexible and enjoy a variety of shifts with overtime
