Job summary

MasTec Communications Group is hiring a Fiber Splicer in Anchorage, Alaska. You will build end-to-end fiber optic networks, perform splicing, testing, and troubleshooting, and work on outdoor utility sites with a safety-first mindset.

Ideal candidates have 3–5 years of fiber splicing experience, are comfortable with ladders or bucket trucks, and are ready for long-term projects. Competitive hourly compensation and comprehensive benefits accompany the role.

Responsibilities

• Test and troubleshoot the continuity of fiber optic networks.

• Utilize fusion splicer, OTDR, power meter, and related test gear.
• Apply fiber design knowledge and read documentation for light levels and dB loss.
• Work on outdoor utility construction sites.

Responsibilities

As a Fiber Splicer, you are responsible for producing end-to-end fiber optic networks. You believe in doing the job right. Being the best. And you're up for the challenge.

In Addition, You Will

• Test and troubleshoot the continuity of fiber optic networks
• Operate all testing equipment and be adept at the resolution of challenges common to fiber optic networks
• Experience prepping fiber splice enclosures such as Tyco, CommScope, Corning, etc.
• Utilize fusion splicer, test equipment OTDR (Optical Time-Domain Reflectometer) 1310, 1550, DWDM, CWDM, 945 OLTS, Max Tester, Power meter
• Fiber engineer knowledge of fiber design, reading documentation, understanding of light levels, and dB loss
• Work in outdoor utility construction sites

Qualifications

Compensation of $22-$27 per hour, depending on the experience.
