Job summary

Emery Telecommunications & Video has an opening for an Engineer at the Orangeville office. The position covers engineering, drafting, and project planning for aerial and underground fiber optic installations, including new routes and modifications to existing networks.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field; project management exposure preferred.
• Relevant experience in telecommunications or civil engineering is considered.
• Ability to obtain permits and manage right-of-way processes.

Responsibilities

• Engineer projects or work with contracted engineers on all engineering aspects.
• Draft and design drawings for aerial and underground fiber optic lines and conduits.
• Design and prepare drawings for removal or rearrangement of existing lines and conduits.
• Gain proficiency in CAD and Google Earth for design, analysis and tracking.
• Oversee permits and right-of-way agreements and route selection.
• Analyze traffic loads and availability of existing lines; forecast needs.
• Provide accurate cost estimations and forecasts using Excel and estimation tools.
• Provide continuous reports and maintain project records; Gantt chart experience is a plus.
• Collaborate across departments and with external entities.
