Job summary

Olsson seeks a Telecom CAD Technician to support BAU and Long-Haul groups, preparing fiber optic design plans, permit exhibits, and engineering drawings while coordinating with engineers, project managers, designers and permitting staff.

Responsibilities include reviewing field data and client requirements to produce accurate CAD deliverables and supporting QA/QC reviews to meet Olsson standards. This role offers growth in telecom engineering and design.

Qualifications

1–3 years experience with CAD-related software (AutoCAD experience required).
GIS-related software experience (ESRI preferred).
Associate degree in a related field or equivalent experience preferred.
Experience with Word and Excel; Bluebeam and Smartsheet a plus.
Ability to read and interpret engineering markups, maps, utility records, survey information, and GIS/KMZ data.
Attention to detail and commitment to producing accurate plan sets and exhibits.

Responsibilities

Produce accurate and organized CAD drawings with minimal drafting errors.
Follow Olsson and client CAD standards, templates, layer management, and file organization.
Prepare and revise telecom plan sheets, permit exhibits, alignment drawings, and right-of-way exhibits.
Incorporate redlines and quality control comments in a timely and accurate manner.
Communicate proactively when information is missing or clarification is needed.
Maintain awareness of project schedules, priorities, and deliverable deadlines.
Continuously develop proficiency in telecom design standards, GIS/KMZ workflows, and CAD software.
