Job summary

Michigan Broadband Services is seeking an OSP Telecommunications Field Engineer to join our Carney, MI office. You will design, implement, and maintain fiber optic networks, performing site surveys, CAD-driven route design, and project coordination across Michigan.

The ideal candidate will have 3–5 years in telecom engineering, CAD proficiency, and strong analytical and communication skills to collaborate with utilities and operators on time-sensitive infrastructure projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or Telecommunications preferred; 3–5 years of relevant telecommunications engineering experience.
• Experience designing fiber optic networks, outside plant (OSP), or telecommunications infrastructure.
• Proficiency with CAD software and interpreting engineering drawings, construction prints, and technical documentation.
• Knowledge of fiber optic construction practices and utility coordination.
• Strong communication, organization, and multi-project management skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform detailed engineering site surveys for equipment installations.
• Design fiber optic routes and OSP cable projects using CAD.
• Develop construction prints and engineering documentation for expansions.
• Coordinate pole transfers and make-ready work with utilities and agencies.
• Configure, install, test, and troubleshoot active network equipment.
• Maintain accurate project documentation and as-built drawings.
