Job summary

Mortenson is seeking a Structured Cabling Fiber Splicer to install and maintain low voltage systems in data centers and related facilities. The role emphasizes fusion splicing, testing with OTDR and power meters, and precise documentation.

Candidates must read plans, operate common tools, and work well in teams with a strong safety mindset. Travel will be 90–100% and a driver’s license is required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Minimum two years of related experience; Data Center construction experience preferred.
• CNET CNCI Certification is required.
• BICSI Installer (INST 1) certification is required.
• BICSI Installer 2 copper/fiber (INSTC/INSTF) certification required.
• Trade or technical school certification/diploma is required.
• Apprentice aptitude test may be required.
• Current driver’s license is required.
• Ability to read plans and operate common workshop tools; teamwork and communication skills.
• Willingness to lift up to 50 lbs and travel 90-100%.

Responsibilities

• Assemble, install, test, and maintain low voltage wiring and equipment.
• Complete physical installations of structured cabling components, cabinets, and pathways.
• Install fiber optic cabling and related low voltage systems.
• Perform precise fusion splicing of high strand count fiber optic cables.
• Test fiber and electrical systems with OTDR and power meters; document results.
• Complete documentation for time reporting, productivity, and QC.
• Study plans and orders to determine work requirements and sequence.
• Maintain safety and follow codes; keep work area orderly.
• Travel up to 100% as required.
• Collaborate with diverse teams and stakeholders.
