Job summary

Mortenson Construction is seeking an Electrical Journeyman with expertise in structured cabling and fiber splicing for data center environments. The role emphasizes skilled installation, testing, documentation, and adherence to safety standards.

The candidate should have experience with low voltage systems, fiber optic cabling, and be prepared to work with diverse teams. Weekend work may be required in a fast-paced construction setting.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Two years of related experience minimum.
• Data Center construction experience preferred but not required.
• CNET CNCI Certification must have.
• BICSI Installer INST 1 required.
• BICSI Installer INSTC/INSTF required.
• Trade or technical school certification/diploma encouraged.
• Apprentice aptitude test required.
• Current driver's license required.
• Must be able to read plans and speak/understand English; Spanish a plus.
• Strong teamwork and customer service skills; good communication.

Responsibilities

• Assemble, install, test, and maintain low voltage electrical systems.
• Install structured cabling components and related infrastructure.
• Perform fusion splicing of high strand count fiber optic cables with low loss.
• Test and document fiber installations using OTDRs, power meters, and scopes.
• Read plans and determine work sequence from drawings and specifications.
• Maintain safe work environment and follow codes and procedures.
• Complete required documentation per company standards.
• Work weekends as needed.
• Contribute to team and adapt to diverse environments.
