Job summary

Mortenson is seeking a Structured Cabling Fiber Splicer to deliver skilled craftsmanship for maintenance and installation of low voltage electrical systems in data centers and facilities. The role requires reading plans, fusion splicing fiber, and testing with OTDR and power meters.

You will work with a team, adhere to safety standards, and ensure high data integrity. A valid driver’s license and on-site availability are required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Minimum two years of related experience.
• CNET CNCI Certification.
• BICSI Installer INST 1.
• BICSI Installer INSTC/INSTF for copper and fiber.
• Trade or technical school certification/diploma.
• Apprentice aptitude test.
• Current driver’s license.
• Ability to read and understand plans; English fluency preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assemble, install, test, and maintain electrical wiring and fixtures with hand and power tools.
• Complete physical installations of structured cabling components and pathways.
• Install and service low voltage cabling including fiber optic systems.
• Perform precise fusion splicing of high-count fiber optic cables with low loss.
• Conduct fiber testing and document results with OTDR, power meters, and scopes.
• Document work and time using company standards and reports.
• Read plans and determine work requirements and sequence repairs or installations.
• Organize work by reviewing work orders and gathering tools.
