Job summary

Mortenson is seeking a Technician to perform skilled craftsmanship for maintenance and installation of low voltage electrical systems in data and communications environments.

The role involves assembling and installing wiring, fiber optic cabling, and related equipment, plus testing and documenting results. Candidates should have a high school diploma with two years of related experience and be willing to travel extensively.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Minimum two years of related experience.
• CNET CNCI Certification preferred.
• BICSI Installer INST 1 required; INSTC/INSTF preferred.
• Trade or technical school certification/diploma.
• Apprentice aptitude test.
• Current driver’s license.
• Ability to read plans; experience with English; strong communication.

Responsibilities

• Assemble, install, test, and maintain electrical wiring, equipment and fixtures.
• Install and service low voltage cabling and fiber optic systems.
• Perform fiber fusion splicing with low loss.
• Conduct fiber testing with OTDR and power meters.
• Read plans and determine work requirements and sequence of repairs.
• Maintain safe work environment and comply with codes.
• Travel 90-100%.
