Job summary

Mortenson is seeking a Splicing Technician to install and maintain low voltage electrical systems, including structured cabling and fiber optics. You will splice, test, and document network installations, ensuring signal integrity and safety.

The role requires reading plans, using hand and power tools, and lifting up to 50 lbs with assistance. A strong teamwork ethic and professional customer service are essential.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Minimum two years of related experience.
• Trade or technical school certification/diploma preferred.
• Apprentice aptitude test completed.
• Union specific training.
• Project specific/Mortenson training.
• Current driver’s license required.
• Ability to read plans and interpret drawings.
• Strong teamwork and customer service skills.
• Lifting up to 50 lbs with assistance as needed.

Responsibilities

• Assemble, install, test, and maintain wiring and fixtures using hand/power tools.
• Install structured cabling components, cabinets, and pathway systems.
• Perform low voltage cabling and fiber optic installations.
• Conduct fiber fusion splicing with mass fusion techniques and ensure low loss performance.
• Test and document installations using OTDRs, power meters, and inspection scopes.
• Maintain documentation for time, productivity, and QC.
