Job summary

Mortenson is seeking an Electrical Journeyman with expertise in structured cabling and fiber splicing for data center and commercial projects. You will install, test, and maintain low-voltage electrical systems, including fiber optic cabling and cabinet installations, following plans and safety standards.

The role emphasizes precise fusion splicing, documentation, and collaboration with diverse teams. Weekend work and physical tasks up to 50 lbs may be required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; related technical certifications preferred.
• CNET CNCI Certification and BICSI Installer certifications are valued.
• Experience with data-center cabling and low-voltage systems is a plus.
• Ability to read prints and electrical diagrams; safety training preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assemble, install, test, and maintain electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures.
• Install structured cabling components, racks, and pathway systems.
• Install and service low voltage and fiber optic cabling and equipment.
• Perform precise fusion splicing of fiber optics with low-loss standards.
• Conduct fiber testing and documentation using OTDR and power meters.
• Complete time reporting, labor productivity tracking, and QC documentation.
• Read plans and determine work requirements and sequence of repairs or installs.
• Maintain safe work environment and follow codes and procedures.
• Ability to work weekends and lift up to 50 lbs with assistance.
