Job summary

TEKsystems is seeking an experienced Fiber Optic Splicer for a contract role based in Manassas, VA. The candidate will handle preparation, splicing, testing, and documentation of fiber optic installations across varied environments including data centers and outdoor plant infrastructure.

Ability to read splice matrices and engineering drawings is essential. Responsibilities include performing fusion splicing, conducting Tier-1 and Tier-2 tests, and troubleshooting high-loss events while

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience in prepping, splicing, and testing fiber optic cable.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, splice matrices, and cable schematics.
• Strong communication skills; able to work independently or in a team.

Responsibilities

• Perform fusion splicing on loose tube, ribbon, and high-density fiber cable.
• Test and troubleshoot fiber networks using OTDR and OLTS equipment.
• Read and update project drawings, splice matrices, and as-built docs.
• Coordinate with foremen, project managers, and field crews to ensure project success.
• Maintain accurate daily reports, splice records, and test documentation.
• Inspect tools and equipment; follow safety requirements.
