Job summary

TEKsystems seeks an experienced Fiber Optic Splicer to support data center, hyperscale, indoor and outdoor fiber installations. You will splice, test, troubleshoot, and document fiber runs, reading splice matrices and engineering drawings to ensure quality and safety on-site.

The role requires hands-on splicing with OTDR/OLTS equipment, a valid driver’s license, and the ability to travel for extended projects. This contract position is onsite in Manassas, VA.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2+ years hands-on experience prepping, splicing, and testing fiber optic cable in data centers or similar environments.
• Experience reading splice schematics, engineering drawings, and project documentation.
• Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record.

Responsibilities

• Perform fusion splicing on various fiber types and counts.
• Conduct Tier 1 and Tier 2 testing using OLTS/OTDR equipment.
• Read and update project drawings, splice matrices, and as-built docs.
• Coordinate with foremen, supervisors, and customers to ensure project success.
• Maintain daily reports, splice records, and equipment logs.
