Job summary

TEKsystems is seeking an experienced Fiber Optic Splicer for a contract position in Reston, VA. The role involves preparing, splicing, testing, troubleshooting, and documenting fiber optic cable installations across data center, hyperscale, indoor, and outdoor environments.

Ideal candidates have hands-on fiber experience, read splice schematics, and can maintain project documentation while following safety and quality standards.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Minimum of 2+ years hands-on experience prepping, splicing, and testing fiber optic cable in field, data center, ISP, OSP, FTTH/FTTx, or hyperscale environments.

Responsibilities

• Perform fusion splicing on loose tube, ribbon, and high-density fiber optic cable.
• Prepare, clean, secure, route, and organize fiber optic cables within enclosures, pedestals, panels, trays, and cabinets.
• Conduct Tier 1 testing with OLTS and Tier 2 testing with OTDR; use VFL and other fiber test tools.
