Job summary

TEKsystems seeks an experienced Fiber Optic Splicer to support data center, hyperscale, indoor and outdoor fiber deployments in Atlanta. You will prepare, splice, test, troubleshoot and document fiber installations, ensuring quality, safety and productivity.

The ideal candidate has hands-on splice/testing experience, reads drawings and splice matrices, and can work across multiple environments with strong communication and teamwork skills. This is a contract, onsite role in Atlanta, GA.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record.
• 2+ years hands-on fiber splicing/testing in data centers, hyperscale facilities, ISP networks, or OSP.
• 2+ years operating OTDR, OLTS, and Visual Fault Locator equipment.
• Knowledge of fiber optic cable construction, color codes, connectors, splice trays, and cable management.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, splice records, and cabling schematics.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work independently or in a team.
• Maintain quality, productivity, and safety in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Perform fusion splicing on loose tube, ribbon, and high-density fiber optic cable (single- and multi-mode).
• Work with fiber counts from 12 to 6912, per project requirements.
• Prepare, clean, route, and organize cables within splice enclosures, pedestals, panels, trays, cabinets, and data center/OSP infrastructure.
• Conduct Tier 1 testing with OLTS and Tier 2 testing with OTDR equipment.
• Operate visual fault locators and other fiber testing tools to verify network performance.
• Read, interpret and update project drawings, splice matrices, cable schematics, engineering documents, test results, and as-built docs.
• Coordinate with foremen, project managers, customers, and field crews to ensure project success.
• Maintain accurate daily reports, splice records, test docs, production notes, equipment logs, and time records.
