Job summary

MP Nexlevel, LLC seeks a skilled fiber technician to prepare, splice, test, and document fiber optic installations across data center environments. You will read and maintain splice schematics, ensure safety, and deliver high-quality work for diverse projects.

The role requires hands-on fiber experience, proficiency with OTDR/OLTS testing, and the ability to travel for long projects while maintaining documentation and safety standards.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
• Minimum of two years hands-on fiber prep, splicing, and testing experience.
• Minimum of two years operating OTDR, OLTS, and visual fault locator equipment.
• Working knowledge of fiber optic cable construction, color codes, connectors, splice trays, enclosures, panels, labeling, and cable management best practices.
• Ability to read and interpret drawings, splice records, cable schematics, work prints, and engineering documents.
• Ability to travel for extended project assignments; lodging and per diem provided.
• Ability to communicate professionally with supervisors, crew members, customers, and other contractors.
• Ability to work independently or as part of a crew while maintaining quality, productivity, and safety.

Responsibilities

• Perform fusion splicing on single- and multi-mode fiber, including high-density cables.
• Prepare, route, and organize cables in splice enclosures, panels, and trays.
• Perform OTDR and OLTS testing; use visual fault locator as needed.
• Troubleshoot and repair fiber network issues, including high-loss events and mismatches.
• Read and update project drawings, splice matrices, and engineering documents.
• Coordinate with Foreman and project team to meet schedules and quality expectations.
• Maintain accurate daily documentation and equipment records.
• Inspect tools and equipment; report deficiencies and ensure readiness.
• Follow all safety requirements and PPE protocols.
• Paperwork filing and maintenance of equipment and vehicle records.
