National Archives and Records Administration is seeking a Material Handling Laborer to support a federal records program in San Bruno, California. The role focuses on accurate storage, retrieval, movement, and disposition of records while ensuring confidentiality and compliance with agency policies.

The position involves warehouse and records-center duties, lifting 30–50 pound boxes, palletizing, shrink-wrapping, and maintaining precise records of locations and transfer numbers.

Qualifications

• Be at least 18 years of age and legally authorized to work in the United States.
• Able to understand and follow written and verbal instructions, safety rules, and work assignments.
• Sufficient English reading, basic writing, and basic numerical skills for records handling.

Responsibilities

• Locate, retrieve, remove, transport, and reshelve Federal records containers per instructions.
• Safely move records boxes using material-handling equipment and transport containers as applicable.
• Receive, shelve, and verify records transfers against Put Away Reports and other documentation.
• Prepare records for disposition by pulling containers, staging, palletizing, and shrink-wrapping.
• Maintain container sequence and verify labeling, transfer numbers, and shelf locations.
• Retrieve requested folders and return/reshelve accurately after processing.
• Identify and report missing containers, discrepancies, or damaged containers to supervisors.
• Complete logs, pull lists, worksheets, and related records documentation accurately.
• Protect sensitive federal records and adhere to safety, security, and confidentiality policies.
