Job summary

The Material Handling Laborer is based in Perris, California, supporting a federal records program. The role focuses on accurate storage, retrieval, movement, disposition, and handling of records and containers to safeguard government information.

Duties include locating and reshelving containers, transporting with carts, preparing records for disposition, and ensuring proper labeling, logging, and adherence to safety and privacy policies.

Qualifications

• Be at least 18 years old and legally authorized to work in the United States.
• Able to successfully complete the background investigation/suitability process necessary to obtain and maintain access to a NARA Federal facility.
• Be able to report reliably to the Perris, California facility for scheduled on-site shifts.
• Understand and consistently follow written and verbal instructions, records-control procedures, safety requirements, and work assignments.
• Demonstrate sufficient English-language reading, basic writing, and basic numerical skills to interpret container numbers, shelf locations, labels, pull lists, and related records documentation.
• Maintain the confidentiality and security of sensitive Government records and information.

Responsibilities

• Locate, retrieve, remove, transport, and reshelve Federal records containers in accordance with instructions and documentation.
• Safely remove records boxes from shelving and transport containers using material-handling equipment.
• Receive and shelve incoming records transfers and verify locations against records reports.
• Prepare records for disposition by pulling designated containers and securely shrink-wrapping pallets.
• Maintain containers in the required sequence and verify identifying information and shelf locations.
• Retrieve folders, files, boxes, and other records in response to requests and reshelve after processing.
• Identify and report missing containers, discrepancies, or damaged containers to the appropriate personnel.
• Complete required logs and records-control documentation accurately.
