Job summary

CGS seeks a Law Clerk to support a federal agency's litigation team. You will perform litigation support tasks including cite checking, legal research, document review, and drafting motions, briefs, and memoranda.

Ideal candidates have a JD or are law students, strong research skills, familiarity with Westlaw/Lexis, and the ability to work under pressure. This full-time role offers growth and meaningful public service.

Qualifications

• Requires JD or active ABA law student status with at least one year completed
• Strong knowledge of federal and state court systems and legal research procedures
• Familiarity with Lexis and Westlaw; cite checking and bluebook proficiency
• Experience performing complex legal research and drafting legal documents
• Proficient with word processing, databases, spreadsheets and filing systems
• Ability to deliver high-quality work under pressure

Responsibilities

• Under supervision, perform complex legal research for trial staff
• Assist in preparing draft legal documents such as motions and briefs
• Cite-check using Westlaw and Lexis and bluebook formatting
• Review and research ROI and pertinent laws; analyze new cases
• Edit submitted decisions and draft legal opinions
• Assist attorneys through all phases of litigation
• Respond to citizen letters and review AMICUS briefs
