Job summary

CDM Smith is seeking a capable engineer to serve as the technical liaison between federal government design and construction teams and contractors. You will review submittals, estimates, and reports for compliance with standards and regulations.

With 5+ years in engineering, you will apply principles across planning, design review, and construction administration, while developing client relationships and mentoring junior staff. Domestic travel is required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering.
  • At least 5 years of relevant experience.
  • Domestic travel is required. Overseas travel is also possible.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the technical liaison between federal government client design branch, construction branch, and contractors.
  • Review design submittals, shop drawings, specifications, RFIs, and reports for compliance.
  • Apply engineering principles across planning, investigation, design review, construction administration, and assessment.
  • Monitors progress and prepares technical/status reports.
  • Provide engineering judgment for field modifications and non-conformance issues.
  • Ensure compliance with guidelines, regulations including permitting and safety requirements.
  • Assist in cost estimates and coordination with government cost estimators.
  • Participate in pre-construction meetings, progress reviews and closeout activities.
  • Develop and maintain client relationships through responsive communication.
