Job summary

CDM Smith seeks an experienced Construction Inspector to join our project teams in the United States. You will conduct on-site inspections of construction, rehabilitation, and maintenance work to verify compliance with approved design specifications and regulations, and document deficiencies with technical accuracy.

You will review submittals, prepare daily reports, and coordinate with engineers and clients to ensure safety and quality.

Qualifications

• Must be a U.S. citizen.
• Able to pass a federal background check.
• Proficient in interpreting engineering drawings, specifications, and contract documents.
• Strong organizational skills to balance and prioritize work.
• Excellent attention to detail.
• Familiar and comfortable to work on computers/tablets/phones.
• Strong technical writing and oral communication skills and ability to interface with contractors, engineers, and federal clients.
• Ability to work with multiple stakeholders.
• Ability to work independently in field conditions with minimal direction.
• Good interpersonal skills to cultivate relationships with colleagues, customers, and partners.

Responsibilities

• Conducts on-site inspections of construction, rehabilitation, and maintenance projects and verifies compliance with design specifications, standards and regulations.
• Documents inspection results including deficiencies, deterioration and required corrective actions.
• Review contractor submittals, RFIs, shop drawings, and material certifications with engineers and project teams.
• Monitors construction progress and prepares daily reports, deficiency notices and status reports.
• Oversees field construction services, enforcing safety, environmental, quality control and permitting requirements.
• Participates in pre-construction meetings, design reviews and project closeout activities.
