Job summary

AutoZone’s Store Management team drives store performance, fosters a productive team, and ensures exceptional customer service. The Manager in Training (MIT) is a transitional role designed to prepare you for promotion into Retail Store Management within 8–12 weeks, based on your experience and performance.

You’ll gain leadership, communication, and operational skills through hands-on assignments, training, staffing support, inventory oversight, and customer service leadership.

Qualifications

• 1–2 years of prior experience as a retail manager or supervisor.
• Full‑time flexible schedule including mornings, nights, weekends, and overtime as needed.
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Strong people skills and bilingual English/Spanish communication.
• Experience in automotive retail or analyzing company financials (e.g., P&L) is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Leadership development – Live The Pledge and drive WOW! customer service.
• Maintain clear and effective communication with employees and customers.
• Learn to manage, analyze, and reconcile monthly P&L statements to optimize profitability.
• Support store operations and uphold structured training processes.
• Assist with staffing, mentoring, and training to develop the team.
• Lead customer service activities and resolve concerns proactively.
• Oversee inventory accuracy, merchandising, and sales strategies.
• Complete management skills training and learn key store operation aspects.
