Job summary

Volunteers of America Greater New York (VOA-Greater New York) seeks a Family Monitor to provide shelter-based support, escort services, incident reporting and crisis intervention at the Bushwick Family Residence in Brooklyn, NY. The role emphasizes safety, client relations, and adherence to facility rules.

Minimum qualifications include a high school diploma or GED, one year of relevant social services experience, and basic computer skills.

Responsibilities

• Maintain safety and security of families in the facility and enforce rules.
• Maintain appropriate helping relationships with families and respond to their needs and concerns.
• Handle functions such as new family registration, reception of visitors, security rounds, and other duties.
• If no driver is available, drive the facility vehicle for client transportation.
• Participate in scheduled team meetings and case reviews for assigned families.
• Perform other related duties as requested.

We are currently seeking qualified candidates for the following position:

Position: Family Monitor

The Family Monitor provides support services at designated locations at the family residence. Provides family assistance, such as escorts, incident reporting, and crisis intervention.

Location: Brooklyn, NY 11207

Minimum Qualifications:

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• One-year relevant experience working in a similar capacity in a social services setting.
• Must possess good interpersonal skills and basic computer knowledge.

Certifications that are required upon hire in accordance with regulatory mandates:

• Security License
• Fire Guard (F-02)

Certifications that are required within 90 days of hire - VOA will cover the cost:

• CPR/First Aid
• Coordinator of Fire Safety & Alarms (F80).

Family Monitor Principal Responsibilities:
