Job summary

People Serving People seeks a Family Advocacy Case Manager to support families in shelter, helping them move toward housing and stability through goal-oriented plans and supportive services.

This in-person role will primarily operate out of the Fed Plaza shelter location, with occasional coverage at other PSP shelters. You’ll coordinate with county/state paperwork, use trauma-informed practices, and assist with employment readiness while maintaining detailed CRM/HMIS records.

Qualifications

• Two or more years of experience providing culturally responsive services to individuals and families from diverse backgrounds.
• Two or more years of experience working with families or individuals experiencing homelessness, housing instability, or other barriers to stability.
• A valid, Class D driver’s license required.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a caseload of Shelter families and potentially Supportive Housing Residents, including keeping up to date on required paperwork.
• Meet with families before, during and after their stay to help work on goals towards housing.
• Listen to and offer support to residents while working on next steps and solutions.
• Utilize translation services to communicate with non-English speakers.
• Write referrals for resources and services.
• Assist families with employment needs (resume, cover letter, job search).
• Make phone calls on behalf of clients.
• Advocate in-person on behalf of clients as needed.
• Coordinate with service providers to ensure best outcomes for clients.
• Follow Trauma Informed Care principles.
• Escalate concerns and coordinate solutions with families.
• Identify need for mental/ chemical health services and coordinate with onsite coordinators.
• Use problem-solving skills for various family situations.
• Provide material aid under emergency circumstances (clothes, stamps, etc.).
• Maintain and update records in CRM/HMIS.
• Assist with monthly statistics on usage/outcomes.
• Follow Mandated Reporting guidelines.
