Job summary

Health & Human Services Comm (HHSC) Wichita Falls State Hospital is seeking a Maintenance Specialist II to perform inspections, maintenance, and repairs across building systems, including plumbing, HVAC, electrical, and carpentry. You’ll manage work orders, operate basic equipment, and collaborate with peers to ensure safe, reliable facilities for Texans.

The role requires one year of related experience or completion of trade school, and a valid Texas driver license within 90 days.

Qualifications

• One year of work experience in electrical, plumbing, masonry, mechanical equipment, locksmithing, painting, motor vehicle maintenance, grounds keeping, equipment maintenance, HVAC, carpentry, welding, or electronic cabling.
• Completion of trade school may substitute for experience.
• Must possess a valid Texas driver license or obtain within 90 days after hire.

Responsibilities

• Perform inspections, maintenance, and repair work on building systems (plumbing, HVAC, electrical, carpentry, painting) per codes and standards.
• Maintain and repair building and utility systems and equipment.
• Complete paperwork and maintain work order records; communicate effectively.
• May operate heavy machinery and train others as needed.
• May work overtime or extended hours per agency needs.
