Job summary

Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) seeks a Maintenance Specialist III for Big Spring State Hospital in Texas. The role involves inspecting, maintaining, and repairing building systems, including plumbing, HVAC, electrical, and carpentry to ensure reliable campus operations and safety.

Overtime and rotating shifts may apply. Responsibilities include renovations, material cost estimates, and ordering parts.

Qualifications

• Minimum two (2) years’ experience in maintenance or related trades.
• Valid Texas driver license or ability to obtain within 90 days of hire.
• Ability to work independently or with a team.

Responsibilities

• Attends work regularly and may be assigned to a specific or rotating shift schedule.
• Performs inspections, adjustments, maintenance and repair on building systems per codes and standards.
• Performs renovations to modernize buildings or adapt to new uses.
• Calculates material and labor needs and orders parts and supplies.
• Maintains safe, uninterrupted services to campus operations and programs.
• May operate heavy machinery such as backhoes or forklifts.
