Job summary

Los Alamos National Laboratory is seeking a Facility Maintenance Tech 2 to support the LFO Life Safety Program at the Los Alamos site. You will assist with inspections, maintenance, and coordination of access to life safety equipment and ensure compliance with NFPA 10 and LANL policies.

The role requires basic knowledge of work-order tracking, MS Office, and effective communication. Onsite work with a one-year commitment, and opportunities in a safety‑minded, mission‑driven environment.

Qualifications

• Basic knowledge and experience tracking preventive and corrective work orders from initiation to completion.
• Basic knowledge of facility/operational policies, practices and procedures.
• Ability to read, understand, follow, and enforce safety procedures.
• Demonstrated experience working with computers and scanners.
• Basic knowledge of Microsoft office software (Excel, Word, Outlook).
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Participate in work execution of LFO Life Safety inspections and maintenance.
• Assist with planning, scheduling, and execution to ensure completion of inspections and maintenance in a timely manner.
• Assist in coordinating operational and programmatic activities to ensure timely access to life safety equipment within laboratory facilities.
• Document work using Mobile Work Package and eSOMS to ensure tracking of equipment status and that deficiencies are corrected promptly.
• Maintain a safe, secure and environmentally compliant work environment as defined by LANL policies and procedures.
• Ensure work has been completed according to the job scope.
• Perform other maintenance duties as assigned by line management that may be needed to support the maintenance organization.
