Job summary

Los Alamos National Laboratory is seeking a Facility Maintenance Tech 2 to support the LFO Life Safety program within the MSS-LFO team at Los Alamos, NM. You will assist with life safety inspections and maintenance, ensuring compliance with NFPA 10 and LANL policies.

The role requires a high school diploma and 1–2 years of related experience, with duties including planning, scheduling, and documenting work using Mobile Work Package and eSOMS. A 1-year commitment is expected.

Qualifications

• Basic knowledge of preventive and corrective work orders tracking.
• Familiarity with facility/operational policies and procedures.
• Ability to read, understand, follow, and enforce safety procedures.
• Experience with computers and scanners.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Participate in life safety inspections and maintenance.
• Assist with planning, scheduling, and execution to complete inspections on time.
• Coordinate activities to ensure access to life safety equipment in labs.
• Document work using Mobile Work Package and eSOMS.
• Maintain a safe, compliant work environment per LANL policies.
• Ensure work aligns with the job scope.
• Perform other maintenance duties as required.
