Commonwealth of VA Careers is seeking a facilities operations professional in Virginia to oversee trades work, manage contracts and document project progress. You will ensure compliance with plans, safety codes and industry standards while coordinating with vendors and staff.

Successful candidates will demonstrate strong communication, cost estimation, and project management skills, plus knowledge of building trades and ability to read drawings.

Qualifications

• Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
• Ability to estimate quantities and costs and prepare daily documentation/reports.
• Ability to handle multiple tasks concurrently and manage stressful environments.
• Ability to manage projects and administer contracts.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, blueprints, building and fire codes.
• Considerable knowledge of building trades and construction (electrical, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry, masonry).
• Skill in using hand and power tools and diagnostic equipment.
• Skill in using computers, software applications and digital cameras.
• Valid driver’s license.

Responsabilités

• To perform, direct and inspect trades work for physical plant, maintenance reserve and capital outlay construction projects.
• Contract Administration and Oversight: administer and oversee work performed by facilities contractors to ensure compliance with plans, specs, codes and regulations.
• Documentation: prepare paperwork, project listings, scopes of work and estimates; process payments and maintain project files.
• Emergency Operations: perform unscheduled or emergency repairs to facilities structures and equipment.
• Hands-on Facilities Work: complete work orders related to construction, maintenance and renovations; maintain supplies and tools.
• Permits and Work Orders: obtain permits and issue work orders to contractors or staff.
• Preventive Maintenance: inspect conditions and document needs; propose budgets.
